Trip to Plovdiv
As an ESC- volunteer, I have the possibility to take 10 days off per week. So far, I only took one day each week. I just had the feeling that I’d like to stay at Vegatarium and work. To travel to some other places seemed too stressful to me and I also had no idea where to go.
Because I like to spend one day a week in the city as a contrast to the quiet life in the mountains, I went to Sofia and visited museums, cafes and did some shopping. Going to Sofia from Vegetarium is super easy, one just goes down the hill to the village Tserovo and take the train. After one hour one is in the capital city of Bulgaria.
There have been some changes with volunteers and many left because of many reasons and I felt to go to some other place for two days. So, I took the train to Plovdiv over Sofia witch takes about 5 hours. Luckily, the public transport in Bulgaria is still in the hands of the state and is affordable. I paid only 6 € for this trip included reservation fees.
It was very nice to look the Bulgarian landscape passing by the window and breath new air in a foreign place. From the monument of the red army “Alyosha” one have an amazing view over Plovdiv and the surrounding landscape. I enjoyed this short trip and can recommend to other volunteers to leave the place from time to time to get a new view and a fresh mind.
