My last week in Bulgaria

Over 4 months passed by, and many memories remain. But before I left, I had a small party with music and bonfire. Also, our neighbor families with their children were there and we had a nice time together.

The morning after, four of us, including me, left towards Sofia to buy some groceries for the next days. We stayed in a tent on the feed of Rila mountains and packed our luggage for transport with horses in the designated area in the mountains. We arrived at the lift before it opened in the next morning and did an one hour hike to the camp of the White Brotherhood.

The White Brotherhood celebrates the ideas, teachings and dances of the Bulgarian Philosopher Peter Danow (aka Beinsa Duno) since over 100 years in the Rila Mountains. The days had a clear structure: first we met the sunrise on one special space in the east. Then we had breakfast and prepare ourselves for the Paneurhythmic dance where we all dressed in white. After, we had time to discover the amazing mountains in an altitude over 2200 to 2700 m. In the evening, we had an evening prayer together with the sunset.

These days were extremely impressive to me. Since I could not use my mobile phone for 4 days, I was completely present in the mountains. It was one highlight of my volunteering experience, and I am happy to be able to make this experience.

Now that I leave for Germany, I am happy and thankful for the impressive time the last 18 weeks. I expanded my comfort zone and could learn a lot about myself. Now I’m looking cheerful towards new challenges and developments in my future life.
