Feeding the bees

It is amazing how many insects and especially bees live at Vegetarium. It is a huge concert in the air, everywhere I step.

This is mainly because of the great biodiversity and the lack of conventional agriculture around.

Also, it is because there are two bee colonies at Vegetarium. At first, there was only one. Filip separated some bees into a new home and add a queen to the house. Since the bees are so young, they cannot fly yet and need to be fed to survive. So, I check every evening, when the activity of the bees is decreased, whether there is enogh bee food in the feeder. To do so, I wear a protection head and some long sleeve clothes in order to not get stung. At first, I went without it and I got stung in my neck. It was painful but at least I know that I’m not allergic to bees.

For me, it is fascinating to deal with bees. They create their own society and live in their own world. And to realize that they are just as important to humans as they are fragile.
