Blackberries, nettles, and the clematis vine
W5 – days off and weeding the blackberries
Thessaloniki travels
I had 4 days off at the beginning of the week. For these days, I travelled to Thessaloniki, Greece. It was my first time in Greece, and the urban scenery was quite different after the 4 weeks spent at the Vegetarium property! I visited some museums and local restaurants. To go to Thessaloniki, there is a direct bus for 4 hours from Sofia. The trip went fast and was lots of fun, but I was also happy to be back in the mountains.
Blackberries, nettles and clematis
When I came back, I continued with weeding. I thought weeding the nettles was painful, but it was only before I tried to weed blackberries. The spikes can go through thick fabric and they get easily stuck in your hair too. The blackberries, nettles and the clematis vine are some of the invasive species on the property. They grow very well in these conditions in the wild, but also take space from the garden from the plants we would like to grow. This week we have been working on removing the unwanted plants from around the trees and bushes.
For me, it has now been about a month in Vegetarium. I am excited about what the following weeks bring.
