Horses

We have two horses, the male is Peppi and the female is Rada. How to take care of them is also a great responsibility. They are wild horses and we are giving them the space they need as well as possible. One of them is always attached to something and the other one can freely do her/his job. Like this they never escape, because they are a couple. If one of them is attached, the other one will stay near to it or never leave it behind for a long time.
When I’m taking care of them, my job is to:
• Give them fresh water when it’s necessary
• Collecting the horse manure
• Changing who is attached
For the day the female (Rada) is free. In the mornings I give the bell to Rada, so I just attach it around her neck. In this case, we always hear where she is (If she is near). Meanwhile, Peppi is attached to somewhere with a rope, so he also has a small area to move. There is a knot method how to attach the rope properly to their leg. When the night comes we change the roles. The main idea behind this is that at night the male can protect the female (etc. Jackals and wolves) if he is free and also has time to do what Rada is doing in the day.
Collecting horse manure is important because we can use it as soil. We put them into 3 groups and we are also watering them when it’s necessary. Later, with the help of the worms, it can be a great soil to use.
