1 of March
Today is the 1st of March. It is an old Bulgarian pagan tradition that has been preserved through time until today. On this day people exchange small bracelets made of red and white thread for health and good luck. They wear them until they see a stork, and then they take them off and hang them on a blooming fruit tree for fertility.
On this beautiful day we were invited to two places. First we stopped to visit our neighbors. They had prepared wonderful herbal tea, fruits, and a very tasty and healthy cake for the celebration, decorated with roses and flowers. We gathered around a small table in the yard, and the weather was wonderful. Most of the time I played with little Lyubov, we went looking for mushrooms and ran away from imaginary monsters.
After a few hours of fun we went back home to eat and rest for a bit, and then we prepared to go to the other place we were invited to. It was the little house of Vladeto and Miryana. They have a clay house in the center of the village.
When we arrived it was very fun. We tried shooting with a rifle and with a bow. The bow was more difficult for me, but I did well with the rifle. Later more people arrived, some friends and some new faces, and the atmosphere became very cheerful. But time was running and we didn’t want to go back in the dark, so we decided to leave.
It was a very pleasant and fresh day, full of fun moments.
