Time Management in the ESC Project: A Valuable Learning Experience

Through my ESC project, I have learned a lot about time management and have successfully applied my previous knowledge and experiences to my work. Good time management is especially important in daily organization and task execution to work efficiently. Through the various tasks I take on, I have discovered new techniques and strategies that further improve my time management.

One example from the summer is watering the garden. I was responsible for watering the three gardens (west, east, south) as well as the plants outside these areas. By combining drip irrigation and manual watering, I was able to create a plan and divide the work efficiently. I applied a method from my previous lab work called “batching.” You start one task and begin the next before the first one is finished. This method saves time and requires practice to avoid confusion, especially when working with multiple timers. Without this technique, I would need a whole day for this task instead of just two hours.

Another example is cooking. Currently, we prepare breakfast and lunch at the same time. The night before, I plan what I will cook and take into account any leftovers I need to use up. I soak everything and prepare what needs to be done in advance. In the morning, I start with the tasks that take the longest and leave the quickest ones, like preparing the salad, for last. This approach not only saves time but ensures that everything is ready at the same time.

Time management can be applied not only in short periods but also on a larger scale, such as when considering the seasons.
Overall, through the ESC project, I have learned a lot about efficient time management and can see the benefits of these skills in many areas of my life.
