Small steps, big confidence
When I think about what i learned last week helping to the neighbour with his house, what stands out isn’t that I became some kind of master builder. What I did learn, though, was a lot of simple but useful things like how to work with clay and bricks, how to carry and stack wood for the winter, and how construction isn’t as mysterious as it first seems.
At the beginning, even these small tasks felt new and a little scary. I wasn’t sure if I was “doing it right.” But once I got my hands dirty, I realized it’s really about trying, making small mistakes, and figuring things out as you go. Moving heavy wood, patching with clay, or helping with little repairs gave me a new kind of confidence.
The truth is that I didn’t just learn how to handle materials, I learned that i can handle them. I don’t feel helpless anymore when I see a small repair that needs doing. Even if it’s just stacking wood neatly or fixing something simple, I know I can give it a try and get it done.
It wasn’t about becoming an expert , it was about realizing that I don’t need to be afraid of tools, materials, or small construction tasks. And that, for me, a really valuable lesson, and also i was really happy to help to Stefan with the constructuion and repairing.
