Rila

I had the opportunity to visit one of the biggest mountains in Bulgaria, the Rila mountain. It is also called Seven Lakes of Rila. Thanks to our Hosts (Filip and Barbara) they left their tents and other usable things there, so the packing was much easier. Every year there is a Spiritual event on that mountain: the Paneurhythmy dance of the “White Brotherhood”. People from all around the world come to take part in this event. I was there for seven days. We eat vegetarian food and carry water from the downside (for drinking and washing). We use dry toilets also and there is a big tent for showering. The camp is around 2500 m up from sea level, so the sun can burn and the nights are cold even in summer. I have visited all seven lakes and there are so many hiking possibilities. We get here before sunrise in the morning, so we can cheer the sun. I have participated there just once because for me it was better to get up in my rhythm. On the 6th day we had a big rain with a little bit of thundering and lightning. It was cool to experience this from the tent in the mountains.
The people there were super kind and it was a pleasure to see how they care for each other. The first night one of our trainers from ESC training visited us (me and my volunteer partner) and we watched the stars in the night from a high spot (We even saw falling stars there). It was a special experience if someone comes to Bulgaria and loves hiking or nature this place is worth a visit for sure.
