Greece
Before arriving to vegetarium I passed by the greek city of thessaloniki and stayed for two nights which gave me the chance to explore the city a bit. it is not a long time however it was enough to get an idea of greece and honestly i really liked the country.
I had time to visit the white tower which is the symbol of the city. Inside there is an exposition about the history of Greece and the city. I learned some things that I didn’t know before as we just concentrate on ancient history and we forget that Greece actually also has modern history with participation in both of the world wars.
As my project happens in Bulgaria which is a neighboring country I had the chance to compare the people in both countries and it really surprised me the big difference that these two nations have in the way people behave. Greeks are much more open and loud and the streets are full of life with young people meeting with friends and going for a coffee or a beer. However in Bulgaria I felt that people are much more closed and the city life is absent even in the main city of the country Sofia.
This was very surprising for me having in mind the proximity of these countries one with the other, however it is important to have in mind that the actual origins of the population are different. The Greeks come generally from the micenic civilisation while Bulgarians are more associated to slavic europe.
Overall my trip to Greece was really interesting mainly because I had the opportunity to compare natjions. This really opened my eyes to differences in a region which historically has always been mainly conflictive.
