From Sunshine to Snowflakes

This year, the seasons changed rapidly and over the course of just two weeks the weather went from 30 degrees to snow. After a few days of autumn, the snow came unexpectedly but we were lucky that we just moved the kitchen inside and prepared everything for the colder season.

When we woke up and saw the first snow, we were so surprised and happy at the same time. But as beautiful and magical this snow is, it will probably only last for a few days since now it is only the beginning of October.

With the change of the weather there are also some things changing in our everyday life and we gain new knowledge.

The most important skill we recently learned is how to make a fire inside at the fireplace so that we can cook on the stove.

Added to that cooking and baking bread on the fire is also something I’ve never did before. At first you have to get used to it but as everything in life it needs practice and when doing it every day it gets easier. I like it to cook on the fire, not only because the cooking experience is much more special but also because the meals just taste better.

Furthermore, I learned how to chop wood with the correct technique and I am happy about that because it is a useful skill for life. Even though I did not expect it to be something fun, I am surprised by how much I like it.

Not to forget that it’s also super cozy to make a warm fire inside and while watching out the window, you see the mountains covered in wisps of fog and the snowflakes falling softly on the ground.
