Beautiful Nature and a Cozy Fire
One day we were told that we are going on a walk in the evening. So after dinner we gathered for the walk and at that point I didn’t know where we were going.
The path we followed led us across a field from where we had a breathtaking view over the Balkan Mountains stretching across the entire horizon.
However, this idyll was briefly interrupted when we entered a forest where several barking dogs came out of the bushes. It turned out that they are protecting a herd of goats and after a moment they went away so that we could continue our walk.
On the way, our mentor Stefan joined us with his two adorable and playful dogs, who were super excited to come with us. Continuing our walk, we entered another forest and followed a small, mystical-looking path. Later we crossed a small river and arrived at our final destination.
It was a beautiful place by the river where deciduous trees stretched their branches high towards the sky.
Filip explained that in the past people were using this place as gardens.
At that time it was getting dark and through the crowns of the trees we saw how the soft pink and orange light of the sunset slowly faded away.
We sat together, lit a candle and Stefan invited us to a short meditation about nature and how everything is connected.
Meanwhile the two dogs kept coming over and sitting next to me, demanding me to pet them which was really cute.
When the twilight turned into night, we made a campfire that created a cozy atmosphere.
Moreover, we played “broken telephone”, a game where a message is passed along in a circle of people by whispering and in the end the last person should say the original message. Due to the fact that we were an international group and almost everyone spoke a different language, the game was a bit more difficult but also really funny and we laughed a lot. We tried to guess the correct words and sentences in languages such as Bulgarian, French, Spanish, German and Japanese.
Before heading back home we also sang a few songs: one person said a word and the others had to find a song that contained this word.
As it was getting late, we went to the river for some water to put out the campfire. To my surprise we saw some crabs that were very well camouflaged in the water.
On our way home we had a spectacular view of the starry sky which was the perfect ending to the hike 🙂
