Drama practices

Something I really enjoy about being at vegetarium is the freedom we have to propose activities for the community. Now I have the opportunity to do drama lessons for the group and I find it very interesting contribution to a community such as vegetarium. In this article I want to describe the imòrtance of activities such as drama for a group.

First of all it is important to notice that it is not necessary to be a professional to propose and play drama games as they are usually open for everybody, however it is always good to have someone with experience in the topic. Secondly we all should be aware that drama is not only about acting but it includes a wide range of activities that can be considered more like group games.

Having that in mind I really recommend everybody interested to check some exercises and games online as there is a wide range of activities with free access online. You should look for something appealing for the needs of the group eg. ( more group or individual practices). But now you might be asking yourself why is drama so cool?

As William Shakespeare said “The whole world is drama” which means that every single individual is an actor. Do you really behave the same way when you’re at a party or at a funeral? We all play in different situations of life and knowing to use this art fulfills us as individuals. Following the logic that in reality in life we are all actors means that doing drama in a funny way means living a situation in a funny way. As a group people will get closer to each other and qualities such as empathy might develop as in reality while doing drama we have the opportunity of truly being ourselves. Opening to our group also develops confidence which is very important looking forward to future situations of working together. This is why developing our drama knowledge and participating in games dedicated to it is in my opinion crucial for building a healthy team.

In conclusion I want to thank vegetarium for the opportunity I have to bring this art to our group as I feel it is really working towards improving the community and even helping people to disconnect and feel they can be themselves. I strongly recommend every reader that got to this point of the article to really consider this as a topic of research and try to see the result it has on a group of people.
